Alexandria, VA is a port city and lies directly across from Washington DC. Located in Fairfax County, Alexandria was named after the family of Captain Philip Alexander II(1704–1753), a large estate owner and was established in 1749.  Alexandria is one of the largest cities in Northern Virginia.
